05 WORST SUIT MISTAKES
01. Improper Fit –
As I always mention, “Fitting is the key to dressing”
Perfect fitting is the glory of a suit but still, people wear inappropriate baggy or tight suits.
You should find a good tailor and all your suits and clothing should be made by the same tailor.
Make your tailor your best friend, So s/he can understand, what kind of fitting looks best on you.
The right fit is very important, especially when it comes to formal dressing.
Make sure you select an experienced and skilled tailor.
Read the following points to learn about the suit fitting.
(a) Shoulder seams –
The shoulders of your suit’s jacket should properly hug your shoulders.

It should not be too loose and not be too tight.
Shoulder seams should come comfortably at the top of your deltoids.
Make sure it looks fine after wearing a suit.
(b) Waist –
People often wear jackets/coats with a wide or loose waist fit and it is one of the huge suit mistakes.

A jacket/coat should be slightly tight and tapered from the waist.
It makes your body look more shapely and muscular.
It enhances your overall look and gives you an edgy V-taper look.
(c) Sleeves –
The sleeves of your jacket/coat should not be too long or not be short.

When you stand up straight, around 1.5 inches of your shirt’s sleeve should be visible out of the jacket’s sleeve.
Shoulders, waist, and sleeves are the most significant parts of a suit, so please follow these rules carefully.
02. Tie With Pocket Square –
If you are a person who wears suits then you would know how to select a pocket square.
People often match the color of their tie with the color of the pocket square, they think it looks attractive but actually, this is also from the worst suit mistakes.

Never match a pocket square with the tie because it doesn’t look good at all.
If you want to match something then match your shoes with your belt.
It is the best way to balance the look.
Also don’t stick to any one pocket square.
Try different pocket squares on different suits and select the best.
03. Buttoning Up –
Wearing a suit is all about some rules and etiquette.
There are always some people, who used to button up the suit completely, maybe they don’t know how to wear a suit.

By this, you are directly ripping off the charm of a suit.
When are wearing a two-button suit, you should button the top one and leave the second button open.
If you are wearing a three-button suit, then you can button the top one according to your comfort, always button the second one and always leave the third button open.
This is how you can achieve that gentleman’s look with a suit jacket.
There are a few basic buttoning up rules –
(a) Never button up a suit completely.
(b) open all the buttons while sitting, it makes you feel more comfortable and also it looks great.

(c) button up the jacket again when you stand up.
04. Tags & Tack Stitching –
A branded suit comes with a lot of tack stitching, brand logos, and tags.
They are only for branding and to protect the suit from damages.
They should be removed when wearing but generally, people forget to remove them, which looks unpleasant.
Nothing can be worst than a guy who is walking on the street with tags on his suit.
Please do not worry about the tack stitching on the pockets and vents.
They are only to maintain the novelty and elegance of a suit.
Removing them will not damage your suit at all.
Just cut them carefully with a scissor and remove them.
Wearing a suit with tags will not make you look luxurious and rich, it is pure stupidity and foolishness.
05. Bright Colors –
The suit is a classic attire, which leads to simplicity and elegance.
So, don’t wear bright and vivid colored suits because they do not look good on everyone and they are tricky to own.

I have seen many people wearing yellow, purple, red, green suits and the fact is that they do not look classy at all.
Please do not go for bold and bright colors.
Always choose solid and neutral colors like black, navy blue, gray, brown, burgundy, maroon, etc.
These are the best color options not just for suits and formal dressing, but also for casual outfits.
In case you already have these colors or you don’t prefer them, then you can go for some pastel colors like light pink, light blue, sky blue, etc.
You can wear these colors at weddings and casual events.
Now, let’s talk about color matching.
Suits should always be matched completely, if you are wearing black pants with a white shirt then the jacket should also be black.
This rule is mandatory only for suits, not for blazers and casual jackets.
