A fashionable man is the one who has the sense of making a simple thing attractive and interesting. He knows to wear a simple pair of pants stylishly and extraordinarily just by cuffing them. Do you also want to look stylish and show off your kicks? If yes then you must know how to cuff jeans and pants.

Well, initially cuffing was used to protect the pants and trousers from fraying because when people wear pants/trousers, some excess portion of pants used to hang down.
So they simply cuff their trousers to protect them from fraying.
Today, cuffing has become a well-known trend that has the potential to make ordinary boring look attractive within just 2 minutes.
Apart from this, cuffing techniques prove to be the most beneficial when your pants/jeans are wide or loose at the bottom.
How To Measure Cuffs –
You must first measure the cuffs of your pants/trousers before rolling them so that the cuffing will be done equally and appropriately.
Don’t worry, It will roughly take one minute to measure the cuffs.
The only thing you have to keep in mind that the width of cuffs should be around 2 inches.
There is ironworker cuffing that has more width than this but generally not so popular.
You can use your finger joints for measurements because your finger joints are almost an inch, so you can measure cuffs in this way.
You should only keep in mind that the pant cuff is about 2 inches wide and smooth.
How To Cuff Jeans & Pants
Well, there are many different ways or techniques to cuff pants/jeans/chinos, but the most prevalent three ways we will learn today.
1. The Simple Cuff/Roll –
The simple cuff holds the title of the most functional and versatile pant cuff because it works well with most fabrics and pants.
Also, it looks remarkable with low-top and high-top both types of shoes, It is compatible with sneakers and boots both.
It looks best with slim fit jeans/pants and worst with straight fit jeans/pants.
So avoid simple cuff when you are wearing straight cut jeans.
To simple cuff your pants, you do not even need to think about the weight and thickness of the fabric because it can be done with almost every type of fabric.
You just have to make sure that you can show enough area of your ankle at the end. So you can get the correct cuff width.
How To Cuff –
Step-1: Take the cuff of your pants and just roll the hem once, making sure the width of the cuff is about 2 inches.

Step-2: Flatten the cuff and make sure that the cuff is proportional to all the sides.
Step-3: Carefully hold the top of the cuff and roll the cuffs back, taking care that the folds should not be uneven.

Step-4: Now you can measure the width of the cuff and make sure that the end of the cuff is around your ankle bone.

That’s it; you have successfully cuffed your pants.
If you are a short guy then you can keep the cuff width at about 1.5 inches but if you have a good height then you should keep the cuff width around 2 inches.
The simple cuff will be the same for both types of shoes but if you want then, you can also roll the cuffs of your pants three times while you are wearing boots.
2. The Pinroll –
This is a prominent style of cuffing pants which is especially popular among teenagers because it looks very cool and modern.
The pinroll is very trendy and versatile, it is nicely compatible with jeans, chinos, trousers, etc.
The biggest advantage of pinroll is that it can be done with all types of pants and by this, you can narrow your boring wide jeans with only your hands within minutes.
How To Cuff –
Step-1: Basically, Pinroll is pinch and roll, so pinch the fabric with your thumb and finger tightly on the inside of your ankle bone. It will make the hem slightly snug and tight against your ankle.

Step-2: Carefully fold the fabric against your toe or towards your heel, so the material will be hidden behind and did not come up after the cuffing.
Step-3: Holding the fabric in the same position, roll the hem of your pants.

Step-4: To make the cuffs more stable and neat, fold them one more time in the same way.

Step-5: Now give the cuff a clean and smooth shape and make sure the width of the cuff is about 1.5 to 2 inches.

If the material of your pants is not too thick or your height is good then you can go for 3 folds instead of 2 but if you are a short guy then make sure that you keep the width of cuffs around 1.5″.
3. The Slim Cuff –
The slim cuff is best when you are wearing nicely fit pants but the length of the hem is longer than you want.
You do not need to do much in the slim cuff, just keep in mind that the cuff is uniformed.
The slim cuff works best with narrow ankle pants/jeans, so you should strictly avoid straight fit pants for this.
It is compatible with all types of shoes.
How To Cuff –
Step-1: Fold the hem of your pants with a small width, roughly around 1.3 to 1.5 inches.

Step-2: Similarly, roll the cuff on the first fold and make sure the cuff is evenly folded.

Step-3: Now if you are not satisfied with the length then continue the last step keeping in mind the proportions of the cuff until you find the desired length.

It does not mean that you can fold the cuff too many times because it will look weird again.
So use your observation while cuffing.
