Travis Scott wasn’t really into fashion when he was in Texas producing beats at his parents’ house.
But to be honest, he was still well-dressed.
Well, that was all about to change completely when Travis Scott started making his name in the music industry. And we’re very excited to share his style journey with you. So, without any further ado, let’s dive right in.
The Style Evolution of Travis Scott

Phase 1 (2012-13) –
In 2012, Travis Scott signed to GOOD Music, and this had a massive impact on Travis Scott’s style because now he had sufficient money to add more fashion stuff to his closet.
Now, he was hanging around the likes of Kanye West, who is well-known in the fashion industry and has a major style label Yeezy.
At that time, Travis Scott wasn’t the most fashionable artist out there, but he was beginning to discover his style.
By the way, did you notice something?
All Travis Scott outfits from this phase had some kind of camo design.

Travis’s liking for camp designs soon made its way into his collaboration with Been Trill.
Been Trill was a well-recognized label/DJ collective founded by Virgil Abloh, Matthew Williams, Heron Preston, and Justin Saunders.
In 2012, they collaborated with Travis Scott to release their camo shirts featuring Travis’s nickname La Flame.
This was the very first time that Travis Scott became known for his bold statement fits.
At the same time, Travis Scott dropped his debut mixtape Owl Pharaoh.
Around this phase of Travis Scott style evolution, mostly he was just wearing Vans.
Travis even wore them on the cover of his album and this is significant to point out because kicks will be a major part of Travis Scott’s stylish outfits, but we’ll get to that in a while.
Phase 2 (2014-15) –
In 2014, Travis Scott dropped his mixtape Days Before Rodeo, and much like his projects during this phase, his style was more about dark aesthetics.
Also, around this time, he gave up his favorite camo style and started trying new things or going with the mix of streetwear and grunge aesthetics.
That said, Travis started pulling off vintage rock t-shirts, black color, and sunglasses with his fits.
But if we talk about sneakers, he was still big on Vans, which goes well with his style.
Even on the cover of his mixtape Days Before Rodeo, Travis wearing all-white high-top Vans sneakers.
In 2014, the most important thing that happened for Travis Scott evolution was making his very first appearance at New York fashion week and he wasn’t just there to watch the show. Travis Scott actually walked from Mark McNairy’s spring-summer 2015 show.
During this show, rather than walking the ramp normally like all the other models, Travis Scott just jumped around and bypassed the runway and when the show was over, he flipped off the photographers and jumped on Mark McNairy’s bag.
Although, it is possible that all of this was pre-planned, but even if it was, it still made the headlines, and all the fashion publications were talking about Travis Scott.
2014 was a breakout year for Travis Scott’s style evolution.
2015 was another very significant year for the style evolution of Travis Scott because this was the year that he released his debut studio album, Rodeo.
With the drop of his new album, Travis Scott decided to abandon the grunge style, and he began leaning back into streetwear.
At the time, Travis was mostly rocking Supreme, and he wasn’t just wearing common Supreme pieces, he was wearing very rare and expensive vintage Supreme.
Also, around this time, Supreme was still peaking in the mainstream. So, every fresh fit that Travis Scott wore was being publicized around social media.

2015 was also the year that Travis Scott released his first collaboration with BAIT.
As mentioned, BAIT was one of his favorite clothing brands when he started getting famous. So, for him to get this collaboration was a big achievement.
Travis Scott celebrated the release of his album with a merchandise collection.
Travis was often pictured rocking his merchandise and by making it available for the public, he unlocked the door for his supporters to dress like him, and actually, they did.
Travis Scott isn’t like other rappers who just wear Gucci or Balenciaga head-to-toe. This artist has his distinct style.
In 2015, Travis Scott became a full-on style influencer. However, Travis Scott’s dressing didn’t change drastically in the two years following his album, but his style evolved to be a bit more high-end.
As we already know, Travis loves mixing high fashion and streetwear, and it’s something that we continue to see him do.
He even amped up his merchandise by collaborating with London-based streetwear label Maharishi to release a capsule collection, and this was just the beginning.
Phase 3 (2016-17) –

Travis Scott started a campaign for Alexander Wang in 2016, and then in 2017, he collaborated with Helmut Lang and Ksubi.
According to him, Helmut Lang has always been one of his style inspirations and, in 2017, he finally got his own collaboration.
That being said, these leading brands saw some kind of value in Travis Scott’s role as a male style influencer.
It comes as no amazement that all his collections sold incredibly well.
All these collaborations were just a hint of things to come in the future because 2017 was the year that Travis Scott first began working with Nike.
In 2017, we saw some leaked pictures of Travis Scott Jordan trainers. Although they were never released, this was just to let the public know that Travis Scott was working with Nike.
It wasn’t until the end of 2017 that Travis Scott and Nike released an AIR Force 1.
The hype at this period was real, and now, it is an ongoing partnership.
Well, this was just the beginning of a new phase in Travis Scott’s style evolution.
Phase 4 (2018-19) –
Travis Scott stepped in 2018 by launching the Cactus Jack Jordan 4 with Nike.
We also got a few glimpses of Friends & Family purple suede and olive versions of the Jordan 4.
These Travis Scott Sneakers are just a few of the many collaborations that he has done with Nike, including his AIR Jordan 1.
Well, that says that Nike is allowing Travis Scott to reimagine all these classic silhouettes.
Yes, it’s paid off well because it remarkably promoted the Cactus Jack Nikes even beyond Nike.
This was the breakout phase for the style evolution of Travis Scott and that’s because 2018 was the same year that he dropped his album ASTROWORLD and his merchandise is taken on a life of its own.

It also included an incredible collaboration with Virgil Abloh. Travis Scott has pulled off some really good outfits during this period. Most notably, the Alexander Wang suit he rocked alongside Kylie Jenner at the 2018 Met Gala.
Yes, this outfit was put together by Alexander Wang and a team of great stylists, but Travis embraced it remarkably.
He also had his popular 2019 Super Bowl appearance where he wore Cactus Jack Jordans, Louis Vuitton, and Astroworld merch all in the same outfit.
This isn’t the type of outfit you’d predict to see Travis walking around in but for a half-time show, it got the job done nicely.
Phase 5 (2020-21) –
Travis Scott collaborated with some huge names around this phase like MacDonald’s, PlayStation, etc.
Right now, we’re at the forefront of a new phase in Travis Scott style evolution.
He’s still pulling off a lot of high fashion & streetwear outfits, but it’s like he’s tending towards a futuristic look.
If this history of his style evolution has taught us anything, Travis Scott transforms his style when he drops a new album.

So, perhaps this futuristic look of Travis is just him getting ready to drop his highly anticipated album, Utopia.
Well, this also goes to show that Travis Scott is one of those guys who looks good in everything he wears.
Perhaps not everything, but mostly, it seems like he’s now such an enormous name that everything he wears becomes a style trend.
Now, we’re all excited to see what Travis Scott’s style is going to look like when Utopia finally releases.
